Machu Picchu Photo Tour ...
" Photographing and exploring Peru "

I would like to invite you to join us as we photograph, explore and experience the beauty of Sacred Valley and the Ancient Ruins of Machu Picchu.  We will fly from Toronto to Lima spend the night, then fly from Liam to Cusco traveling via train to Machu Picchu. Our trek will also give you opportunity to photograph in Lima and Cusco.

The Incan built structure know as the “Lost City” was only discovered in 1911 and is located some 7,000 feet above sea level. These are the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu.  Archaeologists estimate that approximately 1,200 people could have lived in the area, many theorize it was a retreat for Incan rulers due to it’s isolation from the rest of Peru.

Machu Picchu is both the best and the least known of the Inca ruins. It is not mentioned in any of the chronicles of the Spanish conquistadors and archaeologists today can do not more than speculate on its function. The locals knew of Machu Picchu for centuries, but it unknown to the outside world until an 11 year old boy led the American historian Hiram Bingham to the site on the 24th of July. At the time, the site was covered in thick vegetation and over growth. Bingham and his team returned in 1912 thru 1915 to clear the growth and start excavating and studying the site. Despite all these efforts many unanswered questions remain.

This evening we will return to Ollantaytambo by train then by bus the remaining way to Cusco. Two nights Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza. (B) (D)
